Friends. Pals. Buddies.

we need them. period. 

but do we need all of them?

err... not really. but i think we do need quite a lot.

what kind then?

well.. nearly all of us prefers the ones suit to our crazy, unique style. the more the merrier!

but that means we're creating groups right? the bigger it gets, we'll end up making new countries!  

true. thus, the creation of the word Differences. and naturally, not all of us react well on the first instance to differences. it can get worse when we start talking! my views would often be quite different from yours. and some are quite the same. but not all.

so what are we going to do? 

hmmm... would it matter to u if i say we must do sth? would u share the same views if i say we should try put aside our pessismism when we hear sth different than ours and give it a chance or embrace it instead? and this idea ain't new u know. 

but what if we can't?

u mean after u've tried? really really hard? well then... they must have said sth really2 bad to make u dislike it! i would then say... move along. u did your best in becoming the good person with 'good friend' quality. but then again, not all would have the same views on this and wants to be good friends. and u can't force them. even tho u care and liked the idea of a friendly, peaceful world.

so, i take it you have tonnes of friends then? 

not really tonnes. but more than a handful. and i'm trying everyday to become that good friend to the best of my ability. to existing and new. but of course, i'm trying harder at becoming that best friend to that one important person. that would be ME. i realised i'm being too hard on myself. and i'm sure i wouldn't like a friend that nags me all the time on little things. u wouldn't like it too.

So are there any take-home messages we can ponder on? 

of course there are! tonnes of it actually! but since this topic is about friendship, one will in the end, hope to seek for the best partnership in life. And who else can be that best friend none other than the Almighty Himself! Like He promised:

"As to those who turn (for friendship) to Allah, His Messenger, and the (fellowship of) believers,- it is the fellowship of Allah that must certainly triumph."

Surah Al-Maidah 5:56

 So let's give our salam to Him shall we? ;)
